HTML <rt> tag

Definition

The <rt> tag specifies the ruby text component of a ruby annotation; this is normally a pronunciation or explanation.

The <rt> tag must be nested within an <rtc> or <ruby> tag.

The closing </rt> tag may be omitted if the <rt> element is immediately followed by another <rt> tag, the <rp> tag or if there is no more content in the parent element.

The <rt> tag was introduced in HTML5.

Example

<ruby>
  伦 <rp>(</rp><rt>lún</rt><rp>)</rp>
  敦 <rp>(</rp><rt>dūn</rt><rp>)</rp>
  <rtc> London</rtc>
</ruby>
(lún)(dūn) London
